We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Operational Controller to join our team at EMROC in Nottingham – Eric Bellfield House (NG8 6PZ).
This position offers a competitive salary and shift allowance.

 

Amey delivers Highways Maintenance services in line with contractual requirements, ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the road network.

The Operational Controller plays a key role in coordinating daily maintenance activities, managing gang deployment, and ensuring works are delivered in line with programme, SLAs and performance targets.

This role supports both planned and reactive works, including emergency response, and requires close liaison with internal teams, the Client and external stakeholders.

 

The standard hours of work are 12-hour shifts, following a 4 days on / 4 off, then 4 nights on / 4 off rotation.


 

What You’ll Do:

 

• Approve draft resource programmes to support effective operational planning
• Manage daily activities of gangs against programme, including direct contact where required
• Ensure delivery is aligned to agreed timescales, SLAs and contractual requirements
• Coordinate with Supervisors in response to on-site or operational issues
• Review suspended and rejected jobs within the Works Management System
• Carry out Level 1 checks of completed jobs, ensuring accuracy of labour, plant, materials and photographic records
• Produce daily and weekly reports on gang activity and operational performance
• Schedule and coordinate emergency and sub-24-hour works, including same-day activities
• Liaise with Supervisors and provide updates on performance
• Review programme quality with Pre-Works Coordinators
• Keep the Client updated on planned work activity
• Liaise with Emergency Services where required
• Maintain communication across all stakeholders to ensure daily performance targets are met
• Deliver and support continuous improvement in service levels
• Maximise productivity through reduction of wasted time, materials and operational costs

Experience

• Experience working on a Highways Maintenance contract
• Detailed operational knowledge
